A 20-year-old woman died when a plane crashed Sunday afternoon in the Cleveland National Forest.

The crash occurred near Pamo Road, north of Ramona. The site of the crash was inaccessible by car so two helicopters from Cal Fire and the San Diego Sheriff's Department responded to assess damage and give aid to the two survivors.

KPBS has created a public safety coverage policy to guide decisions on what stories we prioritize, as well as whose narratives we need to include to tell complete stories that best serve our audiences. This policy was shaped through months of training with the Poynter Institute and feedback from the community. You can read the full policy here.
