Kavanaugh and Blasey Ford Testify

The nation watched Thursday as Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh strongly denied the allegations of sexual assault against him. One of his accusers, Dr. Christine Blasey Ford also testified before the committee and told her story publicly for the first time. The intersection of victims coming forward and a highly partisan political climate is being seen as a watershed moment in the #MeToo era.

Rep. Hunter Maintains Polling Edge Amid Legal Scandal

With just over a month before the general election, Rep. Duncan Hunter maintains a significant edge in recent polling for his re-election campaign. The latest poll comes after another appearance in court on charges related to alleged campaign spending violations. Shortly after appearing before a judge Monday, Hunter spoke to supporters in Ramona and criticized the ancestry of his democratic opponent, Ammar Campa-Najjar.

Future Election Will Decide Short-Term Rentals, Convention Center Expansion

It was announced Tuesday that there are enough valid signatures to challenge San Diego’s newly adopted short-term rental rules. Likewise, a citizens' initiative to raise some taxes for a convention center expansion and other projects has qualified for the 2020 general election. City leaders could decide to hold a special election to decide these issues sooner.
