The day San Diego baseball fans have been waiting for all year is almost here.

The Padres 2019 season starts Thursday with a four-game series against the San Francisco Giants.

Opening day is sold out and there’s a lot of optimism around the team after the Padres closed a 10-year, $300 million deal with All-Star infielder Manny Machado.

On Tuesday, the excitement around opening day grew after news that the number two prospect overall in baseball, shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr., joined the team and will be playing next to Machado on opening day.
