A woman sustained minor injuries when she was dragged across a parking lot in the Rolando Park area while trying to stop thieves from taking her cell phone, police said Wednesday.

The robbery was reported around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday in front of a 7-Eleven store in the 3600 block of College Avenue, south of University Avenue, San Diego police Officer Tony Martinez said.

A man in a car asked the woman if he could use her cell phone and she agreed, but the man and another person in the car attempted to drive away with her phone as she held onto it, 10News reported.

The car drove across the parking lot as the woman hung on, but she eventually let go, the news station reported.

The woman was taken to Alvarado Hospital for treatment of minor injuries, Martinez said.

The car was described as a silver Nissan Sentra, last seen heading eastbound on College Avenue, the officer said.

One of the thieves was described as a man in his 30s with a beard and tattoos. He was last seen wearing dark clothing and a black hat.

Robbery detectives were investigating the theft.
