Evacuations have been lifted for a wildfire in Lakeside on Wednesday that was threatening 20 homes, a Cal Fire official said.

All evacuations and road closures were lifted around 3 p.m. Cal Fire Chief Issac Sanchez said. Eight homes in the 14000 block of Willow Road were evacuated as a precaution, he said.

Willow Road, which has since reopened, was also closed, Sanchez said.

The fire's forward rate of spread was stopped around 2:15 p.m., the agency said.

KPBS has created a public safety coverage policy to guide decisions on what stories we prioritize, as well as whose narratives we need to include to tell complete stories that best serve our audiences. This policy was shaped through months of training with the Poynter Institute and feedback from the community. You can read the full policy here.
