A Protest Built on Pots and Pans in Oaxaca

Hundreds of women banging pots and pans in the streets of Oaxaca, Mexico, took over a local state-run television station earlier this week.

And they're still holding it, in a widening protest that has seen working-class people taking over some government buildings. The protesters are supporting Oaxacan teachers, who are on strike to demand a better salary.

The protesters, said to number more than 500, are also demanding the resignation of the governor -- whom they claim rigged his election in 2004.
