Benchmarks vs. Deadlines to Curb Iraqi Violence

U.S. military representatives reported Tuesday that the Iraqi government had agreed to a deadline for curbing sectarian violence. But separate reports indicate Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki rejected the possibility of a timeline, and President Bush on Wednesday talked of "benchmarks," not timelines.
