The United Nations Security Council just voted to approve a no-fly zone over Libya. The BBC News blogger Mark Mardell says air strikes could start within hours:
France, Great Britain, and Lebanon authored the resolution. The United States later added its sponsorship of the measure, according to the Washington Post. The WP explains:
Earlier today, Moammar Gadhafi ordered Libyan rebels in the city of Benghazi to surrender or they would be shown "no mercy," according to the Voice of America.
