Beef Recall Follows Animal-Abuse Scandal

The Department of Agriculture ordered the recall of 143 million pounds of beef produced by a Southern California meat processor on Sunday. Some beef was destined for school lunch programs and low-income families.

The beef recall — the largest in U.S. history — comes after a widening animal-abuse scandal.
