  • Nationally respected physician and author Dr. Harry Agress, Jr. will present an engaging and uplifting workshop at San Diego Oasis, offering a fresh perspective on what it means to truly thrive in retirement. Dr. Agress, who spent 36 years as a radiologist before launching a new chapter as a photographer, teacher, and author, will share insights from his forthcoming book, "Next Years Best Years: Taking Your Retirement to the Next Level" (April 2025). His workshop invites attendees to challenge outdated ideas about aging and explore how retirement can be a vibrant, purpose-driven phase of life.   • Melissa Villasenor broke barriers by becoming the first-ever Latina cast member of "Saturday Night Live." A comedic impressions expert, she got her start as a semifinalist on "America’s Got Talent." Some of Melissa’s most memorable "SNL" impressions include Owen Wilson, Lady Gaga, and Dolly Parton. An accomplished voice actor, she has voiced characters on several television shows including Nickelodeon’s "OK K.O.!" and "Rock, Paper, Scissors," and in films "Toy Story 4" and "Wreck It Ralph 2: Ralph Breaks the Internet," for which she received a Golden Globe nomination. Melissa was a guest on Jerry Seinfeld’s "Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee," and can be seen in "Barry," "Crashing," and "Awkwafina is Nora From Queens," to name a few. Her multihyphenate talents range even further. Melissa hosted the 2021 Independent Spirit Awards, published a self-help journal "Whoops, I’m Awesome," recorded two music albums, had a Nelix special, and creates fine art.   • A Turkey Wing hand broom is an epic example of Appalachian folk art. It could be considered a functional tool or a decorated art piece. These brooms are made with natural broomcorn. Instructor AB will teach you the traditional techniques for binding and shaping the broomcorn, which is made from sorghum, to create a fun and unique experience…others call it a spiritual occurrence. Let’s sweep it up. Ages 13+ years and up is recommended. In the first 2.5 hour session, children will learn hand-building techniques to shape their magical dwellings from clay, adding creative touches like leaf roofs, mushroom chimneys, lily pad porches, and more.
