The San Diego City Council Monday voted to increase the tax rate for cannabis businesses from 8% to 10% as the city faces a looming budget deficit.

A proposal asking San Diego County to send notice to more than one million residents who could be impacted by potential funding cuts to federal programs failed to advance Tuesday, after a tie vote by the Board of Supervisors.

The rain will begin falling early Tuesday and continue off an and through Saturday in most parts of the county with a brief break Wednesday.

Following an undergrounding of an overhead power line Friday, a project to rid the Rolando neighborhood of electrical poles is complete.

Despite conditions clearing, a heavy shower or thunderstorm could be in the forecast for southern parts of the county between 8 p.m. Friday and midnight, according to the National Weather Service.

Those interested in participating in San Diego County's 2025 online property tax auction have until Thursday to register as a bidder.

The announcement comes after a judge struck down San Diego's COVID-19 vaccine mandate, saying only the state can make that a requirement.

Earlier this month, supervisors unanimously voted to oppose any further placements of sexually violent predators until local jurisdictions are able to fully participate in the placement process, including having full veto authority.
