
Kitty Alvarado
General Assignment ReporterKitty Alvarado is a general assignment reporter at KPBS. Kitty is a Southern California native who has covered some of the Southland's biggest news stories including wildfires, drought, earthquakes and the pandemic. In her 16 years as a reporter, Kitty has worked for a local paper in Fallbrook and TV news stations KZSW in Temecula, Current TV in Culver City, and NBC Palm Springs.
She's a first-generation Mexican American and is fluent in Spanish. Kitty's husband and two sons are first responders, giving her a unique perspective and insight into fire and crisis coverage.
Kitty says she puts her heart into every story she's entrusted to tell and is excited to be a part of the KPBS News team and is honored to serve the people who live and work in San Diego County.
