Sarah Lee serves as the investigations desk editor, where she oversees development of investigative and enterprise stories for KPBS' multi-platform newsroom. Sarah also directs the visual presentation of digital stories. Working with a team of reporters and web producers, Sarah helps cultivate stories of impact and importance to the San Diego community.
Before joining KPBS, Sarah was a political producer for Hardball with Chris Matthews on MSNBC, where she interviewed government leaders, analysts, pollsters, authors, and national print journalists.
Prior to MSNBC, Sarah served as an executive producer at Al Jazeera America, where she created and launched an award-winning TV news magazine program that integrated social media conversation in real time.
During her eight years in Washington D.C., Sarah also launched and developed programs for two additional international TV networks as part of initiatives to establish 24-hour, English language news channels. Managing output teams comprised of reporters, producers, and writers, Sarah helped craft stories out of the Americas, Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Before that, Sarah served as an assignment editor and producer for local affiliates including WSMV-TV, in Nashville, Tennessee and KGTV in San Diego.
Sarah earned her bachelor’s degree in telecommunications from Ball State University in Indiana. She lives in San Carlos with her husband and their two rescue dogs.
