Tom Fudge : Plantation Gospel is the name of a new CD from San Diego blues singer Earl Thomas. Earl grew up in the Pentecostal church. And his new CD seeks to recreate the songs of the earliest black American Christian music. His singing approach is modern. Yet he uses instruments that existed at the time before the Civil War. He also has a few stories to tell about some of these songs.

Earl Thomas will perform a CD release concert this Saturday night at 8 p.m. at the Stephen and Mary Birch North Park Theater.
