It will cost you $3.75 per trip to drive the length of the South Bay Expressway when it opens, which will probably happen in June -- nearly four years after the first shovel of dirt was turned.

The toll road comes with a construction sticker price of $820 million. The toll section will run 12.5 miles on State Route 125 from S-R 54 in Spring Valley to S-R 905 on the U.S. Mexican border.

The South Bay Expressway Limited Partnership has set base tolls ranging from 75-cents for a short drive to $3.50 for the full stretch, if you drive a two-axle vehicle and pay by FasTrak. If you pay with cash, the tolls will range from $2 to $3.75. The tolls will be collected for the first 35 years of operation.
