The state attorney general filed a lawsuit today that seeks $2.5 million in lost tuition from the former owners of a defunct computer-training school.

The suit says that the for-profit MicroSkills vocational school billed hundreds of students for classes that were never held and that some students paid as much as $25,000 for tuition up front and were not refunded after the school shut its doors in October last year.

As many as 350 students may have been affected, the suit says.

The owners continued to actively enroll students even after they decided to close, according to the suit, which also seeks civil penalties of at least $2 million.

The lawsuit targets a San Diego husband and wife who could not be immediately reached for comment.
