Filipino Jazz Vocalist Charmaine Clamor Sings Traditional Torch Songs

Tom Fudge: Jazz singing is often the art of learning the standards. How high is the moon? You don't have to be able to answer the question, but you don't need to know the song. And every jazz singer worth her salt brings a certain style and personality to the great jazz standards.

Charmaine Clamor has done that. But she's also used her own ethnic background in a unique way to bring some new songs to the genre. Charmaine was born in the Philippines, and she adapted some of that country's favorite songs to the jazz style. This morning she joins us in studio, along with guitarist Richard Ickard. She starts us out with a song called Dahil Sa'yo.
