A Republican State Senator will hold on to his job, after a recall attempt. Tuesday, more than three-quarters of the voters in Jeff Denham’s Central Valley district rejected the effort to recall him. State Senate Leader Don Perata  was behind the campaign. He was reportedly upset with Denham for joining other Republicans in holding out for more budget cuts last summer. Denham says the failed recall attempt sends an important message.

Denham: The People in my district very strongly spoke out in a very heavy democrat district – that Democrats, Republicans, Independents, all came out to say this is an abuse of the process and we’re not going to tolerate it.

About a month ago, Senate Leader Perata announced he was ending the recall campaign against Denham. He said it was an act of good-will aimed at helping lawmakers to reach a budget agreement. But the recall was already on the ballot by that time.
