On Voting One's Conscience

Throughout the day, I asked everyone I came in touch with, "Do you know who Bob Barr is?" & Sadly no one did. Not one. I feel a bit vindicated for my previously admitted ignorance about the man. What I anticipated to be a morning of dry political sleuthing turned up some interesting information.

Barr keeps saying he is the solution for people forced to vote for the "lesser of two evils." Though I have yet to see where he defines why the other two candidates are "evil"; is it possible that we should read that to mean better than an "old" man and a "black" man?

Barr was until recently, a staunch Republican who led the charge to impeach Bill Clinton. The twice-divorced Barr also drafted the so-called Defense of Marriage Act banning gay marriage. This from a man who "allegedly" enlivened a Leukemia Society luncheon by - as one local newspaper put it - "licking whipped cream from the chests of two buxom women."

The really interesting part is that Barr is lambasting McCain harder than Obama ever could. All of this might be amusing if the stakes were not so high. I began this blog in a fog of depression after watching Bush's War , which was rebroadcast by PBS Monday and Tuesday of this week.

This documented chronology of the Bush regime's calculated rush to war makes it crystal clear that we cannot run the risk of four more years of any president who would continue the current Republican agenda. &

Now that I think about it, Chuck, I've completely changed my mind. Anyone who might think of voting for McCain should definitely consider a vote for Bob Barr.

In this case, "voting your conscience" will help insure my candidate's victory in November.
