A new report ranks San Diego as the 16th healthiest county in California. The report takes 28 different health measures into account.

It's the 2nd annual health rankings report from the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute.

It grades counties on such factors as the teen birth rate, preventable hospital stays, and the percentage of adults reporting poor health.

University of Wisconsin scientist Julie Willems Van Dijk said when it comes to obesity, San Diegans have room for improvement.

"You actually are at about the same level as Californians," Willems Van Dijk said. "But when 22 percent of your population is obese, that's certainly something that we could work on reducing in your community."

This year's report ranks San Diego healthier than Imperial and Los Angeles Counties, but it doesn't score as high as Orange County.

Marin County is the healthiest in California. Orange is the only county in Southern California to rank in the top 10.
