Suspicious Object Resembling A Pipe Bomb Discovered Near Coronado Bridge

A suspicious object that resembled a pipe bomb was discovered on the southbound Interstate 5 transition ramp to the San Diego-Coronado Bay Bridge today, prompting a closure that last more than an hour, authorities said.

The object was discovered shortly after 8:30 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

Southbound traffic was diverted to state Route 94. As of 9:30 a.m., the closure remained in effect until further notice.
