Grass Fire Burns 3 Acres Near Safari Park

Crews are working to extinguish a roughly three-acre grass fire just east of the San Diego Zoo Safari Park in the San Pasqual area, near Escondido, according to Cal Fire.

The blaze is burning uphill through an open area, pushed by shifting winds. No structures are threatened, according to a spokeswoman for the state agency.

KPBS has created a public safety coverage policy to guide decisions on what stories we prioritize, as well as whose narratives we need to include to tell complete stories that best serve our audiences. This policy was shaped through months of training with the Poynter Institute and feedback from the community. You can read the full policy here.
