Female National Guard Soldier Dies In Kuwait In 'Non-Combat Related' Incident

Army Staff Sgt. Jessica M. Wing, 42, of Alexandria, Va., died August 27, in Kuwait City, Kuwait in a non-combat related incident, according to the Department of Defense.

Wing was serving as UH-60 Crew Chief to the 1st Battalion, 126th Aviation Regiment based in Bangor, Maine, which is part of the Maine Army National Guard.

Maine Governor Paul LePage released a written statement about Wing's death, which reads as follows:

"It brings me great sadness to learn of the death of Staff Sergeant Wing. Maine has lost a great soldier and a great Mainer. Ann's and my thoughts and prayers are with the friends and family of Staff Sergeant Wing during these difficult times. We are forever indebted to her for her service to her state and to her country."

The Department of Defense has not released details as to cause of death.
