Train Service Disrupted For Repairs This Weekend

Amtrak and North County Transit District train service will be disrupted in San Diego County beginning tonight and through the weekend because of coastal rail repair projects.

The last southbound Amtrak Pacific Surfliner train tonight will make its final stop in Oceanside. Passengers will be bused to stations in Solana Beach, Old Town and San Diego, according to Amtrak.

On Saturday and Sunday, four trains will be canceled. Passengers on those trains should contact Amtrak and consider taking the Metrolink train north from Oceanside.

The Surfliner trains still scheduled to run will start and end at Oceanside, with bus service to Solana Beach, Old Town and San Diego, according to Amtrak.

Details on the service disruptions are available by logging onto amtrak.com and clicking on "Service Disruptions.''

The NCTD's Coaster trains will not run all weekend, but the agency will offer bus service between Oceanside, Encinitas and downtown San Diego. Information is available at gonctd.com/projects-construction-updates.

Crews have been working to improve the rail lines for a couple of months.
