San Diego Theatre Week Makes Its Debut
San Diego’s first-ever Theatre Week starts Monday and runs through the end of the month.

The San Diego Performing Arts League, or SDPAL, started San Diego Theatre Week as a way to expose more people to the local theater scene.

It begins Monday and runs through Feb. 28.

San Diego’s Restaurant Week has become so popular, it’s now held twice a year. SDPAL, a nonprofit that advocates for performing arts organizations, hopes to create a similar buzz around San Diego’s theater scene.

Many theaters will offer discounts on tickets and concessions. A range of theaters are participating — from the larger theaters with pricier tickets, including The Old Globe and La Jolla Playhouse, to smaller companies, including Moxie Theatre and New Village Arts. Dance companies and comedy groups are also participating. Some are planning extra programming after shows, such as question-and-answer sessions with the casts.

A full list of theaters and events can be found at the San Diego Theatre Week website.
