UCSD Ranked 8th Best Public College In Country

UC San Diego was the 37th best university in the nation and eighth best public college, according to rankings released today by U.S. News & World Report magazine.

"We are proud that U.S. News & World Report has ranked UC San Diego as one of the nation's top 10 public universities for more than a decade," said Chancellor Marye Anne Fox. "It showcases our commitment to academic excellence, the quality of our stellar faculty, the strength of our research programs, and the success of our students and alumni."

The rankings were based on academic reputation, graduation and retention rates, faculty resources, student selectivity, financial resources, graduate rate performance and alumni giving. The magazine gave extensive data about UCSD, but did not specify why the La Jolla school's ranking was so high.
