Rare Stolen Sports Car Found In Pieces

Vista -- A rare sports car reported stolen in San Diego County earlier this month has turned up in pieces.

According to a report by the North County Times, San Diego police said the 2005 Ford GT was found stripped in a Vista warehouse.

SDPD Sgt. Jim Kistner said the transmission, the frame and the engine were gone. He also said all that was left were small pieces that had been cut up into even smaller pieces. A stolen Porsche also was found.

No arrests have been made.

The Ford GT, valued at $250,000, was discovered missing from a Rancho Santa Fe storage area on July 10. Kistner said the engine alone is worth about $40,000.

Only around 4,000 of the cars were built. The 550-horsepower vehicles can go from zero to 60 mph in under 4 seconds.
