Afghan Military Cracks Down On Its Forces In Response To Insider Attacks

Prompted by the recent wave of insider attacks against NATO ISAF troops, Afghan military officials have either arrested or dismissed hundreds of their own soldiers, according to the Washington Post.

The Post reports Afghan Defense Ministry spokesman Maj. Gen. Zahir Azimi held a news conference today to announce the military had dismissed scores of soldiers for not having proper documentation. In addition, Afghan troops believed to have ties to insider attacks were arrested and face punishment...

“If they were found to have had the plan or link for killing the foreign soldiers.”

Afghans believed to be NATO allies killed 12 U.S. troops in so-called "green on blue" violence in August.
