An upper level low pressure system will bring showers to San Diego County this evening, meteorologists said Wednesday.

Showers will continue over the area Thursday through Friday, and possibly into the weekend, according to the National Weather Service. The agency said that showers could be locally heavy at times and isolated thunderstorms may develop Friday.

"Also, moderate to locally strong and gusty northeast winds are possible Friday into Saturday along mountain ridge tops and through and below the passes and canyons," an NWS advisory said, noting gusts could reach up to 60 miles per hour or greater in favored spots.
