A group of students gathered outside Lincoln High School Friday afternoon to discuss a brawl that occurred two weeks ago, saying they wanted to put the incident behind them.
About 50 students decorated the fence outside the school with posters showcasing their achievements, including college admissions, scholarships and high GPA's.
"What happened two weeks ago doesn't define Lincoln High School," said Stephanie Beltran, a senior. "Lincoln High School has impacted hundreds of students in positive ways, including me."
Earlier this month, the San Diego Unified School District Superintendent Cindy Marten said no students would be expelled as a result of the brawl, which sent several students and one police officer to the hospital. Two students were arrested.
Alicia Yancey, another senior who spoke at the event, said the students had formed an advisory board to help advise the administration on issues of student safety.
"We've all agreed to enter into a social contract where we police ourselves," Yancey said. "Whenever we see a possible situation that may get out of hand, we have agreed to step up and address those issues with our peers, thereby increasing student safety."
