Tony Perry, the San Diego bureau chief for the Los Angeles Times, is an embedded journalist in Iraq with the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force out of Camp Pendleton. He joins us for a live weekly update

Tom Fudge: This week President Bush is expected to announce new plans to increase the number of troops in Iraq and set new goals. House and Senate Democrats have already expressed doubts about the President’s plans to "escalate the war in Iraq."

Meanwhile, troops on the ground in Al Anbar province are trying to deal with day to day problems. We speak with an embedded journalist who is covering Camp Pendleton-based Marines, stationed in Iraq’s Sunni triangle.
