The results of a new survey don't bode well for Governor Schwarzenegger's healthcare reform proposal. The survey of 600 likely voters shows a vast majority are opposed to some key parts of the plan. KPBS reporter Kenny Goldberg has the story.
The survey reveals people like the idea of having the state subsidize health insurance for the poor. They also support requiring insurance companies to cover anyone regardless of their medical history.
But the survey shows Californians strongly dislike other elements of the plan. Oregon-based Grove Insight conducted the research.
Company president Lisa Grove says people don't believe they should be required to have insurance.
Grove : Especially when there are no limits placed on what insurance companies could charge for premiums. That just doesn't make sense to Californians.
Grove says the only groups that show even modest support for the governor's plan are in the Central Valley and Sacramento. She says opposition is strongest among people who are regular voters and the uninsured.
