SD Zoo’s Giant Panda Conservation Unit has Achieved Many Scientific Breakthroughs

Tom Fudge: Pandas are well known to San Diegans. Our zoo has given birth to four panda cubs over the past decade. And, this coming Sunday night, KPBS Television will air a documentary program about Pandas and the work of the Giant Panda Conservation Unit at the San Diego Zoo. The program is called Panda Tales .

Panda Tales will air Sunday night at 8pm on KPBS-TV, cable channel 11, broadcast channel 15.

  • Kathi Diamant, is the co-writer and narrator of Panda Tales , which is a national PBS pledge show that was produced here at KPBS.  
  • Dr. Ron Swaisgood , co-head of the Giant Panda Conservation Unit at the San Diego Zoo.
  • Kathy Hawk , San Diego Zoo senior keeper. Kathy has been working with the zoo's Giant Panda population for many years.
