Camp Pendleton Navy Medic Killed On First Deployment To Afghanistan (Video)

Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Clayton R. Beauchamp, 21, was on his first deployment to Afghanistan when he was killed August 7 by an IED blast in Helmand Province, according to the Department of Defense.

Beauchamp was assigned to 1st Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, Regimental Combat Team 6, 1st Marine Division (Forward), I Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward) at Camp Pendleton.

Beauchamp grew up in Weatherford, Texas and was a graduate of Weatherford High School. Dallas television station CBS 11 reports Beauchamp was slated to return home in October.

His future plans included proposing to his high school sweetheart, and starting a career as a paramedic.

Now Beauchamp's brother, who is also a Sailor deployed in Afghanistan, is escorting his younger sibling's body home to Texas.
