Owner Of OC Register Sells Texas Papers To AIM Media Texas

Freedom Communications, Inc., the Irvine-based owner of The Orange County Register, announced today it is selling its Texas print and online newspapers to AIM Media Texas, LLC.

Terms of the transaction, which is expected to close in approximately 30 days, were not disclosed. AIM said all Freedom employees at the publications in Texas will keep their jobs and positions with the new company.

The publications sold include The Monitor, Valley Morning Star, The Herald, El Nuevo Heraldo and The American. In addition, one twice-weekly, one weekly and a variety of other weekly and monthly publications and related web sites were sold.

The owner of U-T San Diego, Doug Manchester, has told local media including KPBS he is in negotiations to buy The OC Register.
