For the past 17 years, Constance Carroll has served as chancellor for the San Diego Community College District, one of the state’s largest community college districts.

Carroll will retire from her position at the end of the month, following a national search for her replacement.
Her departure comes at a critical time for higher education in California. The state has seen a steep decline in the enrollment of community college students since the pandemic began.
Carroll joined Midday Edition on Tuesday to reflect on her long career and the many challenges that remain for the San Diego Community College District.
