Inspector Morse is a character from the detective novels by British author Colin Dexter. John Thaw stars as this most unlikely detective in the massively popular, award-winning television series of murder mysteries. Inspector Morse is a gentle romantic, out of shape, craving good beer, classical music, and difficult crossword puzzles. But aided by trusted sidekick Sergeant Lewis (Kevin Whately), Morse still gets the job done.

Widely acclaimed by critics, the series attracts millions of viewers worldwide. Oxford's most famous export, the unique character of Inspector Endeavour Morse, has proven to be one of the world's most popular detective dramas.

"Deadly Slumber" Parts One & Two air at 9 p.m. & 10 p.m. on Thursday, June 28th - In these episodes, Avril Steppings is permanently brain damaged following a minor operation that went tragically wrong. The tragedy devastated her devoted father, reclusive millionaire-bookmaker Michael Stepings (Brian Cox).

When Avril's surgeon, Dr. Matthew Brewster (Richard Owens), is found dead, Morse believes revenge for a botched operation seems a powerful motive for murder -- assuming Dr. Brewster's death is ruled an unnatural one. Janet Suzman stars as Dr. Claire Brewster.
