California Sailor Is 3000th Death Of Afghanistan War

Petty Officer 1st Class Ryan J. Wilson of Shasta, California has become the 3000th death among U.S. and NATO forces in the war in Afghanistan, according to CNN. The Department of Defense reported today that Wilson, 26, died in Manama, Bahrain on May 20th from complications associated with an unnamed medical condition.

Wilson was assigned to U.S. Naval Forces Central Command headquarters in Bahrain.

[Wilson] was the 1,974th U.S. death in the war that started October 7, 2001, and the 3,000th overall death from the U.S.-led international coalition engaged in Operation Enduring Freedom.

The Record-Searchlight reports Wilson is his survived by his parents, Tracie and James Wilson of Redding, California. Wilson graduated from Shasta High School in Redding in 2004.
