State Route 163 Lanes Near Cabrillo Bridge Reopened
Friday, April 25, 2014
Authorities reopened northbound state Route 163 in Balboa Park at 3 p.m., according to Caltrans.
A stretch of the freeway had been blocked off because a suicidal man was threatening to jump off the Laurel Street Bridge, the California Highway Patrol reported.
It forced the closure of both sides of SR-163, as well as the 10th Avenue ramp to SR-163.
Police were able to persuade him to come down off the edge of the structure and get psychological help.
