Gusty winds blowing in San Diego County's mountains and deserts are expected to continue Monday and through early Wednesday as a low pressure system moves down the coast.
A National Weather Service wind advisory for the mountains and deserts is scheduled to expire at 2 a.m. Wednesday. West winds of 15 to 35 miles per hour are forecast for the advisory period, as are gusts that could reach 60 mph in mountain passes and along wind-prone desert slopes.
"A low pressure system will move slowly southward along the west coast, and then inland through northern California on Tuesday," according to the weather service. "This will bring stronger onshore flow with periods of gusty westerly winds in the mountains and deserts."
The gusty wind could make driving difficult along Interstate 8. It could also be strong enough to kick up sand and dust, which could reduce visibility, or down tree limbs. Motorists, especially those in high profile vehicles, were urged to use extra caution.
