Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton and Sen. Tim Kaine, D-Va., arrive at a rally at Florida International University Panther Arena in Miami, July 23, 2016.

Tim Kaine will be in San Diego Aug. 20, his first visit to the city since he became the Democratic nominee for vice president.

The U.S. senator from Virginia will appear at a fundraiser organized by San Diego lawyer Jeffrey Krinsk and former San Diego Congresswoman Lynn Schenk, according to news reports.

The San Diego Union-Tribune reported that guests will be asked to make contributions of $1,000 or $10,000.

Kaine will head to Los Angeles for a fundraiser the same day, Variety reported.

The presidential campaign of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is reportedly stepping up fundraising efforts.

The website Politico reported that it obtained an internal memo being sent to high-level Democratic donors, warning them of Republican nominee Donald Trump's July haul of $80 million, more than what they expected. Trump's fundraising should be a wakeup call, the memo said.

The Clinton campaign hasn't announced whether she plans to campaign in San Diego during the general election campaign. The former New York senator and first lady was last here on June 2, five days before the California primary, when she gave a speech in Balboa Park on national security.
