The San Diego City Council's Economic Development and Intergovernmental Relations Committee Thursday will receive an update on Port of San Diego projects, including the proposed San Diego Convention Center expansion.

Port commissioners will also discuss the Central San Diego Embarcadero, San Diego Symphony venue, pier restaurants, hotel development projects and the Shelter Island boat launch ramp, among other things.

An initiative to raise funds to expand the Convention Center appears headed to the November ballot. The measure would raise the city's hotel tax by as much as 3.25 percent, generating billions for the proposed expansion, as well as road repairs and projects benefiting the homeless.
