Investigators say Camp Pendleton Marine Louis Ray Perez was the last person to see 22-year-old Brittany Killgore alive before she disappeared on Friday.

The U-T San Diego reports Perez, 45, is currently being jailed on charges unrelated to the disappearance - allegations he stole an assault rifle from Camp Pendleton. His bail has been set at $500,000.

The San Diego Sheriff's Department and NCIS are investigating the disappearance of Killgore. Lt. Larry Nesbit told the Village News they believe Perez was the last person to see her before she went missing:

The U-T reports Brittany Killgore filed for divorce from husband Cory Killgore last week, with whom she lived in Fallbrook. Arrangements are being made to bring Killgore, an active-duty Marine, home from Afghanistan, where he is currently deployed. He is not considered a suspect in his wife's disappearance.

Lt. Nesbit told the Village News that investigators believe Brittany Killgore was a victim of foul play:

"We are led to believe that because of the totality of the circumstances: we recovered her cell phone in the Gaslamp District; the person we believe was last with her has been less than cooperative and forthcoming; and she usually stays in constant contact with her friends. No one has heard from her since she went missing."

According to the Village News, search and rescue teams are looking in the "northern, rural part" of Fallbrook for signs of the missing woman.
