An expanded search and rescue effort resumed Tuesday for a 75-year-old woman with Alzheimer's disease who apparently wandered away from the Pinezanita RV Park and Campground on Saturday afternoon.

Sally Estabrook, mother-in-law to Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine, was last seen around 4 p.m. Saturday at the 26.5-acre campground in the 4400 block of state Route 79, north of Harrison Park Road, according to a sheriff's department statement.

She apparently walked off while her husband was showering, and he called the sheriff's department to report her missing shortly before 5 p.m.

A sheriff's department search and rescue team has been combing the area but has so far came up empty-handed. Sheriff's officials said the search was suspended overnight but resumed at 7 a.m.

Estabrook is white, 5 feet 4 and 145 pounds with shoulder length blond hair, and may be wearing a teal top and white capri pants. Sheriff's officials said she is not very communicative, but may respond to her name.

Anyone who spots Estabrook was urged to call 911 or the sheriff's department at (858) 565-5200. Sheriff's officials also asked anyone with surveillance video from the day she went missing to step forward.

KPBS has created a public safety coverage policy to guide decisions on what stories we prioritize, as well as whose narratives we need to include to tell complete stories that best serve our audiences. This policy was shaped through months of training with the Poynter Institute and feedback from the community. You can read the full policy here.
