Oceanside Harbor has been designated a "critical harbor of refuge," serving commercial users and military vessels entering and exiting Camp Pendleton. It is the only harbor between San Diego and Dana Point.

Study: Breeders' Cup in Del Mar generated $125M in economic impact

Additionally, visitors generated $11 million in federal taxes and $7.6 million in state and local taxes. Breeders' Cup visitors spent $38.7 million across hotels, dining, retail, transportation and entertainment and $5 million was spent on facility enhancements and event infrastructure at Del Mar, the study found.

The water contact closure was in addition to closures already in place for the Tijuana Slough, Imperial Beach and Silver Strand Shorelines, and Avenida Lunar, according to the San Diego County Department of Environmental Health and Quality.
