Wind Advisory Issued For San Diego County's Deserts

Gusty winds are expected to develop in the deserts of San Diego County Tuesday afternoon.

A National Weather Service wind advisory is scheduled to be in effect from 4 p.m. Tuesday until 3 a.m. Wednesday. West winds of 20 to 30 miles per hour are expected, along with gusts of up to 45 mph, forecasters said.

"A low pressure system moving inland to the north will bring stronger onshore flow to Southern California with gusty west winds in the deserts for late this afternoon through late tonight," according to the weather service.

Meteorologists said the strongest winds would blow around desert mountain slopes.

The gusty wind could make driving difficult along desert roadways and kick up sand and dust, which could reduce visibility. Motorists, especially those in high profile vehicles, were urged to use extra caution.
