  • Sunday, June 15, from 3 p.m. - 6 p.m.Come and explore the gorgeous natural blue of indigo in this Fiber Fest Sunday workshop. Students will learn a range of shibori dye resist processes in this hands-on, creative workshop, including tegumo (spiderweb), ori nui (stitched), and itajime (clamped) shibori methods. We will be using a natural indigo vat to dye a bamboo scarf and better understand the process and symbiotic relationship with indigo dye and this traditional textile surface design.Students will acquire the basic techniques to continue their journey into creating beautiful, unique textiles.This class is appropriate for ages 14+ years old.No prior experience necessary. Join us for a morning of fiber & woodworking friendship and camaraderie.This workshop is geared for fiber enthusiasts, menders, and beginners interested in making their own drop spindles for spinning yarn. This is a special offering in conjunction with Fiber Fest, a 3-day celebration of wool as a sustainable material. This 3-hour woodworking workshop will acquaint students with a woodturning lathe, its parts, the tools needed, safety tips, tool sharpening techniques and how to shape wood on a lathe. The class will consist of students learning to round a piece of square stock, learning the four basic cuts and turning a drop spindle as their take home project.Ages 16 years and older.
