  • Salt & Straw ice cream is celebrating the month of chocolate and love by re-inventing the traditional heart-shaped box of Valentine’s Day chocolates with their new Dipped In Chocolate Perfume and Chocolatier’s Series – available on affiliate via ShareASale. The Dipped in Chocolate Perfume is a wearable perfume created in collaboration with Portland based Imaginary Authors, with notes of chocolate, cardamom, vanilla cream, sandalwood and benzoin sumatra to create a decadent fragrance, available only in scoop shops in 14mL bottles for $46. Additionally, starting Tuesday, January 28 through the month of February, the Chocolatier’s Series is available at all scoop shops and via nationwide delivery, and features five flavors created by co-founder and ice cream innovator Tyler Malek in partnership with some of the most renowned chocolatiers and bean-to-bar connoisseurs in the country. From San-Francisco based Dandelion to Miami-based Exquisito Chocolates, each flavor contains chocolate in some form, from chocolate bars to cocoa nibs, fudge, stracciatella, truffles, and more. NEW: Hazelnut Chocolate Cookies and Cream (v) - A chocolate barley milk base is churned with housemade oreo cookies stuffed with a chocolate hazelnut filling made with Portland-based cloudforest chocolate, and swirled with hazelnut chocolate fudge. NEW: Milk Chocolate Fudge with Candied Macadamia Nut - Inspired by the macadamia nut bonbon from Stick with Me Sweets in New York City, puffed rice-infused ice cream is mixed with milk chocolate fudge and clusters of white chocolate and coconut covered candied macadamia nuts. For customers who want even more chocolate, shops will offer a Brownie Waffle Cone made with a rich, chocolatey brownie batter, finished with a hint of salt, and freshly pressed into a swoon-worthy waffle cone. During the daily demonstrations, the class will cover color mixing, brush handling, and contour drawing skills. Painting from life gives you the opportunity to observe directly from nature different forms of light and surfaces. There will be a focus on impressionistic interpretations of fruit and flowers through the use of watercolor techniques to express form: wet on wet, wet on dry, dry brushing, splattering, lifting, and most importantly adding water. This is a one-day intensive workshop focusing on painting flowers alla prima. Students will learn about composition by designing and setting up a floral still life. We will take a closer look at the structure of flowers and techniques for painting them. A fun, fast study, and an excellent opportunity to develop painting skills and study floral painting in depth. The workshop will conclude with group critique. For oil painters of all levels.
