The show opens Saturday, April 12 and marks the beginning of an ongoing artist residency program that will center emerging and underground creatives from San Diego and beyond.Fedella Lizeth is known for her emotionally raw, personal, and texturally rich work. Her upcoming exhibition is a visual meditation on healing, identity, and transformation—created through experimentation with softness, sculptural forms, and nontraditional materials. Her work speaks in layers: some fragile, some bold, all deeply human. This event also marks the public launch of Subcultura Curation, a community-powered arts initiative founded by curator Bucky Montero. Built from years of organizing in alternative art spaces across Barrio Logan, Subcultura exists to uplift bold, underrepresented voices through exhibitions, residencies, archives, and storytelling. The residency and exhibition take place inside Studio Culture, a new creative hub home to Cult Studios—a growing force in San Diego’s arts and design community. With a full year of exhibitions and programs on deck, Studio Culture is quickly becoming a go-to destination for those seeking experimental, forward-thinking art experiences.Event DetailsOpening Reception: Saturday, April 12, 2025 from 4 p.m. – 9 p.m. Studio Culture located at 2212 Main Street, San Diego, CA 92113Admission: Free & open to the publicStay Connected Artist IG: @fedellalizeth Website: www.fedellalizeth.comPress Inquiries & Interviews: Contact Bucky Montero at subculturacuration@gmail.com

  • The man with the funny haircut seems to take up most of the oxygen in the Elizabethan room, but what about other playwrights of the period? What about Thomas Kyd and his Spanish Tragedy? What about Kit Marlowe and his Tamburlaine? Or Ben Jonson, Will’s supposed pal? And the others? Kim Keeline will provide a survey of these contemporaries and consider any of their influence on the familiar canon.Kim Keeline has a Ph.D. in English Literature from the University of Southern California. She has taught multiple courses at USC, as well as at Southwestern College, MiraCosta College, and Central Texas College. She has been a frequent speaker at academic conferences and has received several prestigious awards for her work.Visit: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/shakespeares-peers-tickets-1116057330519?aff=erelexpmlt
