The texts will be inspired by the same scripture upon which Haydn based each of the movements of his monumental work, The Seven Last Words of Christ. Originally commissioned for a Good Friday service in 1783, it was adapted for string quartet by the composer and has since become a treasured Easter-time tradition around the world.Hausmann Quartet on Facebook / InstagramSo Say We All on Facebook / Instagram
  • Long-time Round Table member Carl Ingwalson has for many years been writing biographies of ordinary Civil War soldiers and their families. At this meeting, he will describe the experiences of the soldiers of the 21st Iowa Infantry Regiment. For example, we will hear of the difficulties of Arnold Allen in trying to confirm that his dependent mother received the money he had sent. When the regiment was in Missouri, George Purdy learned his wife and a daughter had died. David Drummond sought leave so he could get home in time to see his dying wife “one last time.” And Carl will review the regiment’s most noteworthy campaign at Vicksburg.Visit: San Diego Civil War Round Table: June Meeting
